Honda minivan Price

For 2017, the Honda Odyssey receives an optional sound-deadening windshield. Besides that, it is unchanged.
Honda Odyssey Overview
The Honda Odyssey is a minivan aimed at families that need three rows of seating and ample cargo space. Honda first introduced the Odyssey minivan in 1994. Since then the Odyssey has enjoyed four generations of production, the latest launching with the 2011 model year.
There are several minivans that compete against the Odyssey, including the Toyota Sienna, Dodge Grand Caravan, Chrysler Town & Country, Nissan Quest and Kia Sedona.
Styles and Pricing
Honda offers the Odyssey in five different trim levels. The base LX comes with standard features like 17-inch steel wheels, power door locks, power windows, rear privacy glass, power-adjustable driver’s seat, 60/40 split folding third row seat, backup camera, two climate control zones, Bluetooth connectivity, 8-inch infotainment screen and a sound system with seven speakers and an auxiliary jack.
Upgrading to an EX provides more standard equipment like 17-inch alloy wheels, heated side mirrors, power-sliding doors, three automatic climate zones, automatic headlights, a front center console between the driver and front passenger seats, conversation mirror and retractable sunshades for the third row.
EX-L models add leather upholstery, a sunroof, powered liftgate, heated front seats, chilled storage box, power-adjustable front passenger seat, auto-dimming rearview mirror and satellite radio. Options for the EX-L include either a voice-activated navigation system or a rear seat DVD system, but not both.
Touring models add even more standard equipment like foglights, 18-inch alloy wheels, parking sensors in the front and rear bumpers, third row armrest, memory settings for the driver’s seat, the voice-activated navigation system and the rear seat DVD system. Top-of-the-line Touring Elite models come with the same standard equipment plus xenon headlights, a widescreen rear seat DVD entertainment system, blind spot warning system and a 12 speaker sound system.
A Honda Odyssey minivan comes with a factory invoice of about $27, 100 for an LX model and an MSRP of about $29, 600. The EX trim level adds about $2, 400 to the vehicle’s MSRP while the EX-L adds another $4, 000. Touring models come with an MSRP that is $6, 000 more than the EX-L. The Touring Elite tacks another $3, 000 on top of the Touring’s MSRP. Powertrain
All Honda Odysseys come with the same 3.5-liter V6 engine that produces a peak 248 horsepower and 250 pound-feet of torque. All but the Touring and Touring Elite models come with a five speed automatic transmission. Touring and Touring Elite models come with a six-speed automatic transmission. Front-wheel-drive is standard.
The EPA estimates fuel mileage for the Odyssey to be 18 mpg in the city, 27 mpg on the highway and 21 mpg combined with the five speed transmission. Outfitted with the six speed transmission, fuel mileage estimates are 19 mpg in the city, 28 mpg on the highway and 22 mpg for combined driving.
Interior Style and Features
The interior of the Odyssey comes with upholstery colors beige, grey and dark brown. The dashboard, door panels and other interior surfaces come in a combination of black and grey. Overall, the layout of gauges and switches/knobs is neat and simple on LX models, but adding more gadgetry with the upper trim levels also adds quite a few controls to the point it can become a little overwhelming. Interior surfaces feel fairly premium, especially in the higher trim levels.
All three rows of the Odyssey offer fairly comfortable seats. Even large adults can comfortably sit on any of the three rows, even during long road trips. What’s truly unique is the second row of seats can actually fit three car seats at once, making EX and above trim levels true eight seaters. The center seat on the second row can also slide 5.5 inches forward, helping parents reach small children easier. Storage space behind the third row is ample, but folding down the third row and removing the second row seats provides plenty of cargo space at 148 cubic feet. A variety of storage spaces, plugs for electronic devices and other neat interior features are scattered among the three rows of seating.
The removable center console between the front seats is full of ingenious devices. Not only does it contain drink holders, but it also has a cooled storage compartment for keeping food or drinks cold. The center console also has a hook that will hold a trash bag, avoiding having a bag of garbage spill all over the floorboards. Another unique feature is the widescreen DVD player available on Touring Elite models. The screen can show two different things at the same time, like a movie on one side and a video game on the other. Video and audio input ports located on the vehicle’s third row make using auxiliary devices on the system possible.
Overall Assessment
Unlike some other Honda models, the Odyssey offers an extremely refined driving experience. Road noise is virtually nonexistent, even at freeway speeds. Steering, handling and gear transitions are all incredibly smooth, making driving the Odyssey an enjoyable experience versus other minivans. The quality of the vehicle’s interior is superb, making the Odyssey an extremely tempting option for a minivan.
If you still do not have your mind made up on a minivan, definitely look at the Toyota Sienna, which offers incredible value as well. The Chrysler Town & Country offers some unique and luxurious features while the Dodge Grand Caravan is a good option for people who are on a tighter budget.
